BUYERS BEWARE: It seems to get more prevalent every
year. The calls and emails that come in from unsuspecting buyers that have
either bought so-called 1/2 Friesians or are buying one. Many sellers even use
the name of Excalibur's stallions or past stallions we have owned. There are
auctions all over the state and it seems that with the great numbers of people
wanting Friesians they are an easy target. Minnesota has no laws that state you must
have registration or proof of ownership to sell a horse so with buyers willing
to pay there are unscrupulous people selling black horses as part Friesians.
Please do some research before buying. Many of these are frauds, and after the
fact we are sorry but we can not provide papers or records without documents.
The best thing to do if you want to take the chance is contact UC Davis in Calf
and have a DNA test done on the horse. All of Excalibur's stallions have been
DNA'd, so a simple hair test will tell what you have bought. If it is from here
we will do everything in our power to help you get him or her registered.
